Crystal chemistry of pyralspite garnets
Soumar, Jan ; Skála, Roman (advisor) ; Ulrych, Jaromír (referee)
Bohemian garnets have been known as a jewellery stone for many centuries. There is still a lot of interest in them, however, the reserves in traditional locations are getting smaller. That is why search for alternative source of similar garnets in gem quality started. Shavaryn Tsaram deposit in Mongolia is considered as one of the potential sources. Pyrope samples from eight Bohemian localities of two areas (České středohoří [The Central Bohemian Uplands] and Podkrkonoší [The Giant Mountains]) and from Shavaryn Tsaram deposit in Mongolia were analysed using electron microprobe, LA-ICP-MS, ICP-OES, Mössbauer spectroscopy and x-ray powder diffraction. The data were compared with the conclusion that the Mongolian garnets from Shavaryn Tsaram deposit are so different from the Bohemian ones that it will not be possible to use them as a gem material of similar qualities. Bohemian garnet can be characterised as a red garnet with refraction index 1.747 (+/- 0.001) with dominant pyrope component of the average composition Py78Alm17Gr5 and Cr2O3 content above 1 wt.%. The data were also evaluated from two classification schemes point of view. The schemes by Schulze (2003) and Grütter (2004) are used in determining source materials and in diamond prospection. According to them source rocks of Bohemian garnets...
Hodnocení pěstitelských vlastností odrůdy Solaris v nevinařských podmínkách
Tryzna, Pavel
This diploma thesis deals with cultivation of grape wine varieties in unusual vineyard location. The advantage of PIWI varieties of grape wine are benefitial for this purpose. Grape wine varieties from Czech Republic wine-growing subregions and from northeastern non-wine growing region are examined in this methodology. The research compares analytical values of wines and processes them into graphs and tables. Based on results of this thesis there is a disccussion about whether it is worth to grow grapevine variety ‘Solaris‘ in the above mentioned conditions. The result shows that cultivation of this grapevine variety in the non-wine growing location gives valuable material from which it is possible to make competitive wine product.

Fyzikální vlastnosti povrchových horizontů půd vybraných lokalit

This bachelor´s thesis focuses on the evaluation of some physical properties of surface horizons of soil under the Giant Mountains. They come from three villages. In every village I took four samples of arable land and four samples of permanent grassland. An average of these results was created for each village. Soil samples were collected into core sample holders. In a review of the literature there are described the physical properties of soil, the procedure for processing results and the characterization of selected locations from the climatic, pedological, geological, hydrological and agroecological point of view. The resulting average values are, to a porosity 41,8 %, density 1,54 g.cm-3, specific gravity 2,6 g.cm-3, the minimum air capacity 6,7 % and a maximum capillary water capacity 35,1 %. According to the classification of grain on these locations are found mainly middle heavy soil, loam and sandy loam.
Protestant congregations and Spiritualism in Podkrkonoší
Kletvík, Jan ; Halama, Ota (advisor) ; Rejchrtová, Noemi (referee)
After 1781 there were established several Protestant congregations in Podkrkonoší (North-East Bohemia). Approximately one hundred years later, the whole region was greatly affected by Spiritualism, a belief in communication with spirits of the dead through mediums. My objective is to describe the attitudes of the Protestant congregations in Podkrkonoší towards Spiritualism and analyse their causes and effects. Understanding these attitudes will yield an insight into the character of the present congregations. For this purpose, I studied the congregations in Libštát, Křížlice, and Jičín. In particular I focused on their parish priests because they had the control over their flock in these questions. I went through the archival materials of the respective congregations as well as personal diaries, and I analysed the memories of several interviewed people. These findings were then compared with the attitudes of some congregations in Great Britain. The results revealed three different approaches of the priests. Some were very radical, which led to excommunication of Spiritualists. Others were rather tolerant, which resulted in integration of Spiritualists. Finally, some priests were quite secretive, so their parishioners may not have seen a clear line between Spiritualism and Christianity.
